Diagnosis
Male is not particularly close to other Ceriagrion species except C. citrinum (see diagnosis), although shares with many (a) elongate Pt, anterior border about as long as posterior; (b) paraprocts with distinct heel; (c) apex of S10 without denticulates processes. Diagnostic are (1) occurs in forested setting from DRC to W Africa; (2) labrum with transverse ridge-like fold; (3) face bright orange and thorax deep orange; (4) Abd deep red, rather than yellow to orange-red; (4) penis with paddle-shaped lateral lobes, rather than pointed or finger-like; (5) paraprocts reach well beyond tips of cerci. Habitat description
Standing waters in open areas in forest, but sometimes shaded. Often with a soft (like muddy) bottom and usually emergent and probably aquatic vegetation and/or submerged roots. From 0 to 700 m above sea level.
