Diagnosis

Male is similar to N. katanga by (a) labium (largely) yellow; (b) metastigma enclosed in pale band; (c) antehumeral stripe broad and complete; (d) Fw discoidal field almost parallel-sided, of 1 cell-row at and distal to node, 2-5 cells wide on wing border; (e) apex of cerci thickened. However, differs by (1) ranging from W Uganda to W Africa; (2) posterior corner of metepimeron usually with prominent black marking; (3) metastigma at most with small black spot on dorsal side; (4) pale spots on S7 divided by black on dorsal carina; (5) cerci with shorter apex and more pronounced ventral angle, which tip of epiproct just reaches. Habitat description

Streams, but possibly also headwaters, shaded by forest, but sometimes also in open areas in forest. Often with coarse detritus and a soft (like muddy) bottom, probably especially calmer sections (like pools) with blackwater and emergent vegetation. From 0 to 900 m above sea level.
