Diagnosis

Male is unlike other Hadrothemis species by the combination of (1) labium pale with contrasting black central marking, sometimes all black; (2) labrum at least partly black; (3) wing bases clear rather than brown, but tips (in contrast) usually darkened; (4) 2 rather than 1 Cux in Hw; (5) no cell-doublings in medial planate of Fw and Hw, rarely 1 or 2; (6) anterior lamina at least as high as hamule; (7) Abd slender rather than broader and tapered, and parallel-sided but slightly wider at S7-8, S2 under 3 mm broad, initially black with yellow streaks, but darkening and becoming pruinose at base with maturity. Habitat description

Standing and often temporary waters in open areas in forest, but sometimes shaded. Often with coarse detritus and a soft (like muddy) bottom. From 0 to 1300 m above sea level.
