Onychogomphus supinus Hagen in Selys, 1854
Lined Claspertail

Type locality: Caffraria, South Africa

Diagnosis

Male is similar to O. undecim by (a) size, Hw 27-30 mm; (b) face all pale; (c) black humeral stripe(s) narrower than pale stripes anterior and posterior to it; (d) at least front and mid tibiae pale or black with pale streak; (e) black on S3 typically connected to basal border; (f) S3-7 mostly pale ventrally and laterally and black in-between, showing continuous pale dorsal line in dorsal view; (g) foliations on S8 about 1/4 to 1/6 as deep as segment is high. However, differs by (1) being restricted to South Africa and possibly further north; (2) black humeral stripe split into two separate stripes by pale stripe on suture over most of its length; (3) costa anterior to Pt black, contrasting with pale Pt and remainder of costa; (4) foliations on S8 and S9 about equally deep, with convex border.
