Habitat description

Mostly streams, but sometimes rivers or headwaters, in open landscapes, shaded by gallery forest or in open areas in forest. Often calmer sections (like pools) with emergent vegetation, coarse detritus, rocks, a soft (like muddy) bottom, and probably overhanging branches. Inferred to occur from 0 to 1100 m above sea level, but mostly between 200 and 900, although possibly up to 1700.
