Chlorocypha selysi (Karsch, 1899)

Type locality: Cameroon, no locality data available.

Diagnosis

Males of C. frigida and C. selysi differ from other species by combination of (a) anteclypeus and labrum uniformly blue contrasting with largely black frons and postclypeus; (b) tibiae all black, although sometimes with whitish pruinosity; (c) Abd all red. Differs from C. frigida by (1) occurring west of the Congo Basin; (2) being darker overall.

Habitat description

Mostly headwaters, but also larger streams, shaded by forest. Often with dead trunks or branches and probably submerged roots, coarse detritus and a gravelly and/or sandy bottom. From 0 to 1300 m above sea level, but mostly below 700, although possibly up to 2600.
