Diagnosis

The only species currently recognised in this genus in Africa. Please refer to the genus diagnosis and introduction for more information.

Habitat description

Standing waters in open landscapes, notably coastal. Usually with emergent vegetation, often coarse detritus and a soft (like muddy) bottom, and probably tolerant of brackish water. Recorded mostly near sea level, but possibly up to 400 m.

confirmed: Republic of South Africa; Socotra (Yemen); Somalia
